You probably think there are plenty of reasons not get in and help. In fact, it's really is not difficult to be involved (and usually fun). There are members who will give you all the help possible. You'll be taking an active part in your child's physical and social development, having fun and probably getting to meet some really nice people. Remember - many hands make light work! Any help is appreciated, from setting up the beach equipment to cooking the BBQ and helping out on the beach.We ask also that Parents help out with our fund raising activities. These usually include BBQ’s, Raffles and other events that occur over the season. These are essential for the club to keep functioning and to keep a cap on annual fees. It is important that parents and/or carers NEVER leave their child unattended at Junior Lifesaving. Please introduce yourself to your child's Age Manager. Also we expect an acceptable level of behaviour from our members (both senior and junior) and this also applies to parents. We parents and carers should set the example with our behaviours. The Code of conduct outlines these items so please take some time to read it.
Our aim is to teach the children about all aspects of surf/beach safety - including sun protection. We parents and carers should set the example - don't forget to bring plenty of sunscreen, a good hat and a water bottle for each family member. Each child should have 1) A parent or carer present 2) A water bottle 3) Cap on (A sun hat for before & after beach activities is a good idea) 4) Plenty of sunscreen 5) Costume and Rash Shirt (Lycra Shirt) 6) Towel Each Nipper must complete a Run/Swim/Run, which will be done in the first & second week of Nippers, and a Timed Pool Swim (For U/9 & U/10 must complete an Ocean Swim assessment. All U/9 to U/14’s must prove their proficiency before competing in carnivals. Please click here for all information relevant to awards and pre-requisites for each age group

Anyone wishing to order an Avoca Beach Club Uniform please see the uniform coordinators. If you have concerns relating to your child's ability to obtain their Proficiency Qualifications, please contact one of the Committee members or your Age Manager. Some children aren't able to pass their proficiency until later in the season - this isn't uncommon. Sometimes it just takes a little more pool practice, some encouragement and confidence building! Our uniform is blue, green and gold costumes and the Avoca Beach Surf Club caps. Club costumes are available for purchase at Registration days and half an hour prior to the start of Nippers on Sundays. Items for sale include:
