The 2025/26 Rookie Camp for Nippers was an experience us rookies will never forget. Held over a packed and exciting weekend, the camp brought together rookies from all over the Central Coast to develop their skills, build confidence, and strengthen friendships. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this camp would be different - more exciting, more rewarding, and definitely more memorable.
Throughout the camp, we split into colour groups and completed activities designed to strengthen both skills, and friendships. We completed fun team-building games including archery tag, team-based obstacles, and even some dodgeball. The instructors also mentored us in the many leaderships pathways Surf Life Saving has to offer. These sessions allowed us to learn the many skills required to become a leader and opened us up to everything that Surf Life Saving had to offer.
One of the highlights of the camp was the water activities. Whether we were hard at work building rafts, goofing around on paddle boards, or struggling to hold on to jet skis, we still managed to make lifelong memories and have so much fun. The nights were just as exciting - from swinging on bunk beds to the facilitators threatening to “call mum and dad”, the atmosphere made everyone feel excited, connected and included.
By the end of the weekend, we walked away with new skills, new friends, and a deeper love and respect for surf lifesaving. Most importantly, the camp showed us what it truly means to be part of a supportive and dedicated community. The 2025/26 Rookie Camp was about more than just learning new skills, it was an unforgettable experience that brought all Central Coast rookies together, resulting in memories and friendships that will stay with us as we continue our journey as future lifesavers.
