Name: Rocky Wolters (Rock or Rocko)
Family: Wife, Melanie (19 years married), boys, Jet, 17 & Bae, 15 both on patrol with me. Daughter, Violette, 12 years old and a bag of state medals. All 3 went through Nippers.
Years in ABSLSC: 13 years with ABSLSC, second year as PC
My memories on Patrol:
Making all the mistakes - flipping a ducky, dislocated my knee, and driving the buggy by too fast. I also have great memories - patrolling with the family, celebrating milestones with the team and enjoying good times. And of course the rescues - most memorable was saving a grandpa on Christmas Day years ago, I know if our team wasn’t there it would’ve been a very different Christmas for that family.
Best part of being a PC: putting the team through their paces early in the season, identifying areas to strengthen, watching the team grow and bond through the season and having full faith that when we are required to assist the Public, all members of the team know their role and we will provide them the best possible care.
Advice for future PCs: Make it fun, ensure the team is interacting with the members of public proactively. Step up, build a team around you and celebrate their achievements
